Changes in the Household as of Pennsic 33

(Quicktime Video of knighting now available here)

Unless you were paying no attention at all, you have heard that this year at Pennsic, Rodrgo Vargas de Leon was made knight by King Felix. This was announced on Monday night at the champions mixer. Vargas was caught by complete surprise to the extent of not even hearing Chen beg the boon himself. When Master Rory called him into Court, he was moved to tears when he saw his lady Baroness Rowan step out from behind TRM. He thought that she was at home, but Terrae Finis and Shattered Crystal had moved heaven and earth to get her to war without his knowledge. Ask her about her 28 hour Pennsic, beating Master Chen's 36 hour Pennsic when Kaydian was knighted. Vargas was then elevated the next morning in the woods before the Woods Battle. Master Chen begged the boon. Vargas and Rowan the processed in with his fellow squires Tan Po and Gwen serving as the leaders of his honor guard. Count Sir Pieter and Countess Nan Astrid spoke as royal peers, Master Avery spoke as a Laurel, and Sir Ix spoke as a Pelican. Baroness Rowan belted her husband. Sir Ix and Sir Ustad furnished chains for his majesty to bind him in fealty with. Sir Guerric and Sir Kaydian put on the spurs from Baroness Gwen. Master Chen presented Vargas with his sword which HRM Felix instructed him on its use. After an amazing buffet, Sir Vargas rose and Terrae Finis would have its third knight.

Over 300 pictues of Pennsic with many of the knighting are on line.

Sir Vargas after consultation with Sir Ix, Master Chen, Baroness Gwen, Lady Elayne and of course Baroness Rowan, has decided to remain in House Terrae Finis and he and Rowan will be made heads of the household. The ends of the earth now cover MesoAmerica, China, and the Muslim world. Vargas will have the same satus in the house as an equal with Ix and Chen. Rowan will be an equal with Gwen and Elayne, save that we will all continue to know that we all still fight for Elayne! It has been decided to add Vargas lion to the bottom of our household device. Great thought was put into this, but we decided not to learn from going to 15 stripes on the American Flag. It was also determined that we want to have the problem of figuring out what to do with the next knight! Sir Vargas is now at the head of the household to serve you. Ask anything of him that you would ask of Ix or Chen.

Household Memberships

House Terrae Finis has five different types of members within the household. These five memberships are differentiated by the fealty that you owe within the household structure. The five types are chivalry, squire, companion, friend, and junior.

Chivalry: These are those members who are in direct fealty to the crown of the Middle Kingdom as a member of the Order of Chivalry and their inspirations. When the household was started by Sir Ix, he was the founding chiv. Currently this is Ix, Chen and Elayne, as Gwen has opted for her spot as a squire. These are the leaders of the House. The only method to have this type of membership is to be elevated or be the lady or lord of a member of the household who is a member of the Order of Chivalry. The primary fealty of these members is to the crown.

Squires: Members of the household who swear fealty to a member of this household's chivalry. All those who are squired to a member of the Chivalry of the Household are squires in the household. Those who are squired to a another member of chivalry are not squires of the household. The method for getting this type of membership is to be sillly enough to want to be a squire of Ix or Chen. They might even ask you. The primary fealty of these members is to the crown through their liege.

Companions: These are members who wish to be in fealty to the household. They are not in fealty to either Ix or Chen, but instead to both as heads of the household. This may be a secondary fealty. Some members of this group like to refer to themselves as minions.

Friends: These are members of the household who wish to fight with or support the household fighting unit but do not choose to swear fealty. Some members of this class have special titles within the house as they serve a special purpose, such as ambassador or herald. This is an at will membership.

Both Companions and Friends of Terrae Finis are by invitation of the chivalry. However both ranks are open to any person who is interested in supporting the unit with their skills. Any member of the household may propose anyone else to be invited to either of these ranks. Interested parties can approach the chivalry directly, or if the chivalry are to scary, then you can approach another member of the household first.

Juniors: Children of any member of the household. This is given to them automatically upon a parent joining the household. At the age of 14 they can choose to become a friend, companion, or remain a Junior Jaguar. You can only maintain a junior until age 18.
